0900804001564148534.jpgIt's a new year and that usually comes with new resolutions for ways to be better, feel better or have a better year.  Most resolutions don't make it through the first three months of the year either because they require too much effort or take too much time to put into practice.  By Spring, they are only a distant memory.  

This year commit yourself to being healthy and staying safe. Taking just a few of the 1440 minutes in a day is worth having a safer and healthier life for you and your family.  Here are some steps you can take in five minutes or less.

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Read food labels.
  3. Protect your skin.  Use sunscreen.
  4. Buckle up.
  5. Protect your hearing.
  6. Place infants on their backs to sleep.
  7. Check cruise ship inspection scores.  
  8. Test your smoke alarms
  9. Do a skin and body check.
  10. Wash your children's hands and toys regularly.
  11. Know the signs and symptoms for heart attack and stroke.
  12. Ask questions.
  13. Take care of your teeth and gums.
  14. Wear a life jacket.
  15. Keep foods safe.
  16. Eat healthy.
  17. Get a radon test for your home.
  18. Recycle.
  19. Make an appointment for your annual physical.
  20. Know your numbers for heart health.
  21. Fight the urge to smoke or use tobacco.
  22. Take a break.
  23. Wear a bike helmet when you ride.
